The Rockies revealed

Enjoying the Rockies

Enjoying the Rockies

I never thought that I’ll be back in Mt. Maculot so soon. But since I promised an old climbing buddy I haven’t seen for some time that I’ll take him here after seeing my previous post on Mt. Maculot, I scheduled our climb. Thanks to Cruise for inviting me here the first time around, it greatly added to my logistics of the area. Same as what we did, we went on a night trek, but the fun came much later as 2 new friends were added to our list during our climb.

It was night when we started our climb. We noticed another couple of girls climbing on their own that night. We were on the same bus actually but didn’t bother them since we thought they were just following up a group. We headed out first but since there were a group of drunks on one of the houses and they were igniting some firecrackers we decided to wait for them, as they might get scared and it would be safer to climb in more numbers. That’s where we met R and C. Which turned out to be a small world because my friend has a common friend with R we were all in the field of Fine Arts. C on the other hand recently gone back to climbing. She climbed Maculot 2 years ago and decided to bring her friend C. She noticed how the mountain has changed and good thing I just came here recently and we didn’t get lost.

There were a number of campers at the summit but we were able to find a good spot on our own. It rained that night but we were able to share our food at dinner. Afterwards my friend and I went around the campsites and stayed at 7-11 for a while. We had a very interesting chat that night.

Next morning I thought I won’t be able to see the Rockies again but shortly after preparing our breakfast the fog lifted! After packing up our stuffs, the 4 of us excitedly headed to the Rockies and I was glad to be finally able to see the view. It was really fun and there were moments that the fog would pass by but at times it lifts up. And we were able to have a fun shoot for our Hershy’s Photo Contest entries.

I think it was around 11am when we went down. I treated the guys Halo-Halo at the famed 7-11 as a belated birthday treat from me. Turns out C also recently had her Bday as well and both our companions, C and B recently had bdays last August on consecutive days and we were amused at the coincidences.

Anyways, this was a fun climb as we acquired new friends in the process and I’m glad I was able to see the Rockies this time around.
