And just when you thought people have covered most of El Nido beaches, here’s another one to add to the many still left to be discovered (or written about). Las Cabanas is not the last resort found in Marimegmeg Beach south of El Nido Town. Further down after the bend, past at least 100 meters from Depeldet Island is a rough coral sand white beach called Dolarog Beach. It faces the towering Pinagbuyutan Island and is home to one of El Nido’s beautiful sunset spot.

Secluded Beach

There is a resort with the same name as the beach in this far-side of El Nido. Dolarog Beach Resort is one of the pioneer resorts in El Nido and has been here since early 2000. It’s surprising that much of their facility is in still good condition. Going to Dolarog Beach the first time, I had to take a boat from the beach port behind the market. It’s a 15-20 minute boat ride south. I also noticed that it’s walkable along the shore coming from Marimegmeg Beach.

The waters in front of the beach is a marine sanctuary. I was also told by one of the resort staff that the beach varies per season, depending on the wind, fine white sands would spread more widely at the shores. Visitors can also kayak from the resort to the nearby island which I was told was a favorite activity from the guests.

Romantic Space

Beautiful palm fringed beach, large airy cottages and scenic pier greeted my arrival. It’s a quiet side of El Nido not many ventures to. I liked the calm and relaxing environment that opens up to the vast view of Bacuit Bay. Instead of seeing the Cadlao Island, the towering Pinagbuyutan Island stood like a sentinel in front of us. As the sun goes down, we were treated with an eye candy of colors from the warm fading light to the twilight purple glow.

The seclusion is a perfect place for honeymooners. The resto has a lovely al fresco dining with candle light which one can view the twilight skies at night. People are free to visit this side of the beach on their own by walking but the resort grounds is private, exclusively enjoyed by the resort guest.
