Our ultra-hip retro-lit van rolled in North Pattaya past midnight. It was an evening AirAsia flight from Manila to Bangkok. To reach Pattaya which is about 161km away, we rode for about two hours. Everyone was excited but also yearning to rest when we arrived at IBIS Pattaya Hotel. The lobby was simple but it was nice staff were still courteous enough to smile while checking us in past midnight.

IBIS Pattaya Hotel
IBIS Pattaya is a large chain hotel and is part of the many Accor Hotels like the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit. The IBIS brand is on the economy and business line. Don’t let the word economy fool you as the hotel has style and facilities apt for those staying for business and leisure. Key selling point would be the location. It’s just 300 meters away from Pattaya Beach and just a short walk to Pattayasaisong Road where a lot of night life action happens. Very convenient with plenty of choices for eateries around the area and a nearby convenience store even.

Standard Twin Beds
We got a Standard Twin Beds room at the hotel. It was pretty compact but still have ample space to move around. Earthen hues with colorful artwork to liven up the atmosphere. Electronic outlet was conservative, with only a couple near the desk by the window. Clever use of space on the cabinet and a small fridge I almost didn’t notice. Bathroom was semi octagonal and again the shower was tight. And first time I’ve tasted a durian flavored toothpaste there. Not sure if I liked it. Bed was just right and lighting was every cozy.

Taste Restaurant
The only dining option here is the Taste Restaurant where they serve breakfast and ala carte meals. I like how bright and airy the dining area is. Food offering has a good variety and quite tasty too.

Business and Leisure Facilities
IBIS Pattaya also has a nice moderately sized pool too for a cool dip. A bar and internet corner. Internet was a little wonky when we were there though. I do like how accommodating the staff were. Asking for directions or tips for using public transpo was not a problem. They also have bikes for rent for 300–500 THB a day. The hotel is also pet-friendly so cat and dog lovers rejoice here.
I like IBIS Pattaya for its no-frills stylish simplicity. Price is on the midrange which is a good value considering the location, service and facilities they offer. I would stay here again if I find myself back in Pattaya.
