Mandalay: Rooming at Mandalay View Inn via Roomorama.com

“It’s whole new way to stay” says roomarama.com. It’s a pretty attractive strapline if you ask me. Looking into their site, it caters for different kind of travellers from the smart, adventurous and independent traveller like me. Roomorama.com offered to try out their services and since I have a two week trip in Myanmar, I thought it would be great to try them out there. That led me to this fancy boutique hotel Mandalay View inn.

Sagada Stay | Downtown at George Guest House

As much as I like Rock Inn in Sagada, we moved to town center for a much cheaper option on accommodation. We were also going to leave early the next day back to Baguio so it pays to be close to the Bus Station. Since it’s a market day Saturday with not much tourist crowd yet, it’s much easier to go around town and look for places to stay. We decided on George Guest House a few meters down from the center. It’s a nice 4-story road side inn that was of very good value.

Mountain Province: Closer to Nature and Dogs at Rock Inn Sagada

It was an unusual welcome that after a few meters walk from the Sagada main road down the scenic rocky pathways lined by trees, the first creature that welcomed us in Rock Inn were dogs. Not that I’m complaining but it was quite amusing to find them wagging their tails upon oue arrival instead of barking. Do they still remember me from my last visit a month ago with Karl Grobl and his group? That certainly seems to be the case. I’ve always thought that places who loves animals whether be a dog or cat or any other pets, are ran by really friendly folks. Hey if they can take care of their pets well, I think it would be the same for their guests.

Hong Kong: Entering the Magical World at Disneyland Hotel

I was recently on a 3 day 4 night trip in Hong Kong, of those 4 nights, I along with some bloggers from Manila and Malaysia spent our 2 days at Hong Kong Disneyland. I grew up on a generation watching Disney cartoons and looking out every year for the next Disney Animated movie to hit the cinema. With that I was equally excited to finally go to Disneyland. But before that, we went to Disneyland Hotel to drop off our things and Check-in.

Puerto Princesa: Mangrove Beach and Microtel Palawan Resort

Microtel Puerto Princesa Mangrove Morning

Microtel for many years have already established their brand. “It’s the same hotel where ever you go” as their slogan says. For the regular patrons, this is a good thing. They really do have one of the most comfortable chiropractic beds around and the familiar interiors would make it easier for guest to feel at home. While they do have a template for their hotels, they do make adjustments on their resort-type hotels. Like their Boracay branch, Microtel made adjustments to their beach front hotel in Puerto Princesa, Emerald Playa Beach and Nature Park.

South Cotabato Stay | Tierra Montana Hotel General Santos

GenSan Terra Montana

General Santos is the gateway to South-Central Mindanao. We passed through the city going to Lake Sebu and also Sarangani. Our companions from Backpack Photography took off a day earlier than us so we had to find a place to stay for the night. Tierra Verde, was my choice from Jen’s Peter’s Philippines Travel Guide. Bidding farewell to our friends at KCC Mall, we took a cab going to National Highway and was pleasantly to find the said mentioned hotel is under a new management and no goes by the name, Tierra Montana Hotel.

GoHotels, A Budget Accommodation along EDSA Metro Manila

GoHotels Pioneer Beds

I must admit, I find Manila lacking on budget or backpacker accommodations. One reason why most backpacking or budget travellers skip Manila or Philippines is the lack of facilities to accommodate these kind of tourist. In the age of cheap airline travel, I won’t be surprised if budget accommodations would follow. Taking on the Tune Hotels model of Malaysia, GoHotels recently opened their first branch along EDSA Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City. I was able to try them out during their soft opening period and here’s what I think about the place.
