I noticed since I was young, Halloween here in the Philippines has been greatly influenced by the American culture. Adorned in many houses especially in subdivisions, are numerous decorations from pumpkins, spiders, cobwebs and the usual monsters we grew up liking to fear like Dracula, Frankenstein, witches and the local mix of Aswangs, tikbalan, manananggal and white ladies. Those talk of ghost and other supernatural phenomenon that seems to populate our TV screens and print media whenever Halloween approaches have waned my interest recently. I used to like them growing up.

The “Milenyo” story
It would seem that everything’s getting back to normal after that freaky storm, Milenyo (who comes up with these names anyways?) passed by and wreaked havoc throughout the metropolis. Not since typhoon Osang has Manila been battered and bruised and suffered long time blackouts like recently. I guess not everyone expected this storm to be this big, even I who keeps track of the weather and even have an idea that it’s coming didn’t expect this to be that strong, hence I was outside almost the whole day and experienced this storm’s passing. I’m sure each and everyone has a story to tell, well here’s some highlights during that day, though not extravagant as an action movie, but I find it surreal and unexpected.
Car vs Plane
Whose faster, a race car or a plane? If you asked me that I would definiely answer “Plane” no doubt. In the recent Phlippine Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Clark, one of the highlights in the event was the Car versus a plane race. So who do you think won?

It’s been an eventful weekend. Well there’s the MBD (Murder by Design) conference, 1st in the Philippines where a number of designers converge and the top of the line graphic artist, motion graphic artist and Webdesigners share their working processes and procedures to give insight on how they work. Really enjoyed Robert Alejandro’s vast works on design both on books to architecture, Avid’s Ocho-ocho dance as well as his guidelines and sourcefiles on his MTV’s like Nina’s “Loving You”, Team Manila, Furball, Half Project…. Since this is the first I bet the next one would be much better. More pics at Philweaver’s Site. I’m in a couple of pictures there if can recognize me. Hehehe 😛
