My vision of Manila has been limited to DVDs, Hidalgo, LRT, crowded streets and dark grievous corners where anything can happen. I studied at U-Belt for more than four years and had only seen only the dilapidating side of Manila at that time. But a quick walk through Manila’s inner thoroughfares recently expanded my vision of this old city.

The “Milenyo” story

It would seem that everything’s getting back to normal after that freaky storm, Milenyo (who comes up with these names anyways?) passed by and wreaked havoc throughout the metropolis. Not since typhoon Osang has Manila been battered and bruised and suffered long time blackouts like recently. I guess not everyone expected this storm to be this big, even I who keeps track of the weather and even have an idea that it’s coming didn’t expect this to be that strong, hence I was outside almost the whole day and experienced this storm’s passing. I’m sure each and everyone has a story to tell, well here’s some highlights during that day, though not extravagant as an action movie, but I find it surreal and unexpected.

Back to the roots in Manila

Gah, I’m getting a bit slow lately in blogging since the year started. I guess I’ve just got to many things to do and too many questions in my mind, like “Why does the wolf’s howl doesn’t echo in the mountains?” or “How does a malayan snake viper senses heat to attacks it’s prey?”. What?! I guess I’ve been watching too much “National Geographic” and “Animal Planet” during breakfast lately.

And so it goes on…

I caught this magnificent play of colors when I was in Baywalk last night. It was magnificent and very calming. The water was also so calm and the colors of the cloud would just make you stop. And remind you how you can appreciate life whatever may transpire. So much has changed lately, the surroundings, the people. And it can be quite getting used to. I decided not to push through with any of my trip this weekend. I may have my leave on Friday and I may use it for something worth while instead. And it wouldn’t seem okay …
