It’s been almost a year and I think it’s about time I revive my folio/design site www.ferdzdecena.com. After 2 months of conceptualizing and redesigning, spending a few weeks on choosing which photos to feature on the portfolio it has now officially been relaunched. Added a new blog to it as well. Happy New Year everyone! I’m still out traveling at this time but would want to greet everyone a Happy New Year! The past year is one of the best years in my travel. Aside from the number of adventure travels I had in 2008 there’s a lot to be thankful. I’ll reserve my Best of 2008 when I get back. 2009 brings lots of new opportunities for travel but this time I want you fellow readers to help me out.
Ironwulf.net: En Route has been around for more than five years, serving travel chronicles and insightful photography. I thought it was time to do another blog project. I don’t usually open another blog as easily as installing a wordpress. I think it out thoroughly make sure I know the direction it’s heading. I thought doing another blog on one of my passion – food! TNT Magazine London recently had their TNT Winter Travel Show Gallery at Royal Horticultal Halls last September 13, 2008. Also that night they announced the winners of their 18th TNT Travel Writing and Photography Awards. Since I wasn’t there at the venue, it took me a few days before I knew of the results. Mid-last week i found out through an email that I won First Place for the Travel Photography category The World Around Us. And to add to that not I also won the People’s Choice Award which resulted from online voting and offline voting at the Soho Gallery exhibit at Carnaby, Sacred Cafe. Reading the email, I still can’t believe the news that I’ve won.
I remember it was last year, 2007 when this blog was also a finalist in both awards division Philippine Blog Awards and Philippine Web Awards. Though I was happy I was in the finals before, I was a little disappointed when I didn’t bag the main awards. I know being a finalist is an honor in itself and not to mention the exposure (and traffic) it garnered, but I would be a hypocrite not to say that somehow even a bit of a hint, I also wanted to get those recognitions. Not only for the opportunities it can open but also as a self-fulfillment. There is always that tense and uneasy feeling of the unknown when you are part of that final-list. Try as I might not to think about it but it keeps dodging in which can be a bit frustrating.
Thanks for taking part in the 18th Annual TNT Travel Writing and Photography Awards. We received over 1200 entries and you have been selected as a finalist. Your work is currently on display at Sacred Café in Soho!
