Sea Kayaking Cadlao Island from El Nido Town

As the largest island in Bacuit Bay, Cadlao Island is an imposing presence that has become the popular landmark island being so close to town. Despite its proximity, it’s probably the least patronized of the 4 main island tours in El Nido. In my months of stay in El Nido town, taking my time off at the beach, I have always imagined what it is like to visit the island, to climb its peak which is the highest at 640 meters above sea level in El Nido or even visit its lagoon on the far north. I knew, one way or another I won’t leave El Nido without visiting this prominent island. So on the day before I leave El Nido, my friend and I launched our kayak and set out for a day of expedition.

El Nido Tour B Island Hopping: Of Caves, Sandbars and Soft Beaches

Even after being in El Nido for 3 months, I seldom go island hopping since it is an activity I partook on my first visit taking Tour A and Tour C then. Not to mention it’s not really cheap for a day’s activity once you are living in the area. It took a friend’s visit from Singapore for me to take another tour of Bacuit Bay, this time with El Nido Tour B which my friend and I haven’t done yet. Being back there again in the midst of the many islands of Bacuit Bay renewed my sense of wonder of El Nido. It’s different world when one is out on the sea.

El Nido Stay | Corong Corong Resorts and Tricycle Fare Guide

There are a lot of Corong Corong Resorts now and it is growing with the mainstays expanding. Here’s a list of some of the accommodations there, it’s not a full list as there are others I wasn’t able to get and one with a snobbish management. The order of the resorts are based on location closest to the Market and terminal going south. I have also added a tricycle fare guide here.

El Nido Corong Corong Marimegmeg Beach and Stunning Vistas

For a small secluded town, El Nido Town Proper can be quite noisy and grimy these days especially during the festival seasons or holidays. There’s the town plaza events with music heard all over town, tricycles with blaring speakers and not to mention the traffic on narrow streets. While its good to stay in town for more food choices, there are still people looking for a quieter place to stay yet still accessible to town. Corong Corong, the area south El Nido Town is also a good option. Unlike Sitio Caalan though, this one has a long beach stretch, stunning sunsets and easy road access.

The El Nido Ille Cave: 14000 Years of History in the Rock

A magnificent disruption. The first thought when I saw this lone limestone jutting out from the vast rice field surrounding it. “Andyan yung cave? (The cave is there?)” I asked. “Opo! Nasa loob nyan. (Yes sir! It’s inside)”, replied Dyna, who was also another surprise as this lanky girl of 22-yo would be our guide. We traveled about 22 km out of El Nido Town Proper, east to the direction of New Ibajay to visit the Ille Cave, one of the most significant archeological site in the country.

El Nido Stay | Caalan Beach, Eats and Resorts

There was a time back in mid 2000 where there are only about 40 rooms available for visitors in El Nido. These days, development is growing at a steady pace that even from the last time I visited (2010) there are already marked changes in town since I stayed in Hadefe Cottage in Calaan. Now that I have more time to explore this side of El Nido, I was able to comb through this north side beach. Check out my Caalan Beach, Eats and Resorts compilation.

The Big and Small Bulalacao Falls in El Nido

It’s funny how naming conventions of tourist sites go as far as El Nido is concerned. When island hopping its amusing when people would say they’ll be going to a “Secret Beach” (which I won’t tell where because it’s supposed to be a secret) or the “Big and Small Lagoon” in Miniloc Island to name the sites based on size description. Now my new favorite waterfalls in El Nido, the less-visted Bulalacao Falls in Pasadeña, will also get the same treatment as the Miniloc Lagoon. Welcome to the Big and Small Bulalacao Falls, personally the most beautiful waterfalls in El Nido.
