2017 in travel was on the mild side. As much as I want to travel more, domestic and legal responsibilities held me back. Yes, there is another life for a travel blogger like me. The only major travel I did was my trip to Thailand and even then, I was searching for direction. Delving into other interest aside from my photography and writing. The travel landscape has changed drastically the past few years. So many content creators have emerged and I must admit I find many of them to be really good. Honestly, at the back of my head, I felt I’m being left behind already. But looking on another perspective, I already spent quite a good time in my years in travel blogging and I don’t mind letting others get the chance on the spotlight. This also lifts away any pressure on my part to produce content social-media wants or dictates but just create for the sake of my passion and interest. Whether people would bite on it or not, it doesn’t matter anymore for me. Just doing it for the enjoyment. Besides, there is life beyond travel blogging and social media.
Ironically, I enjoy creating videos lately so you may see a lot of it in 2018. I wish I shot a lot more videos this 2017 so I could include all of my travels in this compilation video. Tracing back, I’m thankful for the people who I have met in these travels. My companions that made trips memorable. To the brands that trusted me to help them carry their names. And to companies who commissioned me for work.
I chose Josh Woodward’s song “Airplane Mode” for this video because lately, people have been unconsciously merging with their phones most of the time. Even on travel, people tend to try and capture everything on screen but lose out on the bigger picture behind their phones. I think this 2018, I’ll be in Airplane Mode a lot of time unless necessary. But content will keep on coming in controlled fancy.
2017 was nice and steady. Thank you! It’s time to jump-in and dive into the new year. Bring it on 2018!
