Pasig: Rainforest Park Macro

Butterfly zipping nectar on a Lantana

Before I start on the series of my recent travels, I’d like to get this one out of the way first. I am fairly new to the world of Macro Photography. And I think this kind of photography is a world of its own. Seeing those minuscule details just blow up on your pictures is both exciting and fascinating. So armed with a 35mm Macro Zuiko Digital for my E500, I did some experiments on shooting a lot of flora, which is quite a popular subject in Macro Photography. So I hope you enjoy the images here which are all RAW processed and un-cropped.

My Photography gear set up

My E-system set up

I think I have been asked quite a number of times in comments here and people as well on what camera I use and why. E-500 Field test

Gateway Dome Ceiling

Spent some of my time this weekend playing around with my new Olympus E500 toy and trying to get accustomed with its controls and settings. I think I’m getting a hang of it as some of its controls and menus are somewhat similar to C750. Still I think I have to adjust to its more detailed white balance settings and focusing. Below are some field test samples. No post-processing done, just resizing, watermark and web compression.

Tools of the Trade

Rico XR-2s SLR

I can’t seem to remember how I got interested in Photography. Ever since, my family has been fond of photos and we got piles of photo albums and pictures to testify. Maybe tinkering with those toy cameras that my Tito’s (Uncles) gave us also piqued my interest. But what really got me into serious Photography was in college when we had a Photography subject on our senior year. Since I needed a camera badly at that time, I asked my relatives if they could spare me one. My Uncle gave me his spare SLR camera Ricoh XR-2s, since he was now using those early releases digital camera at that time. It was a nice tough camera, but heavy as well. From there, I learned all the basics of Photography from shutter speed to aperture to composition as well as developing. Photography subject was really fun as every week our professor gave us photo assignments to test what we have learned.
